Recruitment Description (Graduate Engineers Programme)

The Federal Ministry of Works has officially announced a Call for Applications for the engagement of unemployed graduate engineers across all Local Government Areas in Nigeria, under the Ministry’s Capacity Building and On-Site Training Programme.

This initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and is designed to improve Nigeria’s technical manpower, empower young Nigerians, and support the successful execution of major infrastructure projects nationwide.

Successful candidates will benefit from hands-on training, professional mentorship, and exposure to real project environments while supporting the implementation of ongoing Federal Government construction works.

Participants will be assigned to contractors currently handling Federal Ministry of Works projects within or close to their region. They will undergo structured practical training and temporary engagement, aimed at improving their competence, increasing employability, and helping them gain access to modern construction technologies.

Programme Objectives

The programme is designed to:

  • Provide young engineers and artisans with practical experience in modern construction techniques.
  • Create a long-term pool of skilled local talents for Nigeria’s infrastructure growth.
  • Reduce youth unemployment through structured short-term engagement.
  • Improve project execution by integrating trained local personnel into ongoing works.

Application Requirements / Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen aged 18 to 35 years.
  • Have a Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or any related field from a recognized institution.
  • Be currently unemployed and not in government service or any full-time employment.
  • Provide proof of NYSC completion, exemption, or exclusion.
  • Reside in (or be willing to work in) any Local Government Area where the Ministry has active projects.
  • Have basic computer knowledge (engineering software knowledge is an added advantage but not compulsory).
  • Be willing to fully participate in field training activities and modules.
