Job Summary

The Midwife will provide maternal and newborn health services for women of all ages, including obstetric and newborn care to pregnant women and their babies, according to IMC obstetrical and maternal and newborn health protocols. The role involves working under the supervision of a specialist doctor to ensure health conditions are monitored and complications avoided pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, delivery, and post-delivery.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Promote and introduce IMC's integrated approach to VAWG services to institutions, PHCs, and individuals
• Plan and conduct psycho-social support sessions at Women and Girls Safe Spaces, PHCs, and community centers
• Identify opportunities for community awareness raising
• Organize focus group discussions on relevant information
• Conduct safety audits at the community level
• Engage men and boys within the VAWG-IMC Programme, promoting equal treatment regardless of sex
• Maintain and update service mapping for VAWG caseworkers
• Ensure safe identification and referral of beneficiaries, including VAWG survivors, to case managers
• Attend IMC trainings and meetings as coordinated with the VAWG Programme Officer/Manager
• Prepare and submit timely reports and documentation
• Plan, monitor, and follow up outreach volunteers' work in the field
• Ensure continuity of antenatal/postnatal care, safe delivery, emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC/CEmONC), and essential newborn care
• Provide clinical care for survivors of violence against women and girls
• Assess feasibility of referrals from TBAs to OPD/MCH
• Ensure hygiene, sterilization, and universal precaution standards are met
• Perform cleaning and minor maintenance of biomedical equipment
• Guarantee regular supply of drugs and equipment for maternity activities
• Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality; supervise admission and hospitalization procedures
• Conduct skilled deliveries independently and manage obstetric emergencies per protocol
• Supervise use of drugs, facilities, and obstetric materials for MNH services
• Provide quality OPD and inpatient care with proper health education
• Ensure daily data quality on ANC, admissions, deliveries, PNC, and referrals
• Support nutritionally at-risk infants and mothers with integrated mental health and health promotion support
• Provide breastfeeding support and counseling
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Completion of a clinical midwifery education program with a General Nursing and Midwifery Certificate
• Valid license from Nursing and Midwifery Council or similar accrediting body
• Minimum of two (2) years' clinical work experience as a professional midwife in low resource settings
• Proficiency in English and local languages
• Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet)
